Well - what a weekend!! Mighty craic and a good bit of training with 7 runs on Saturday and 4/5 on Sunday! Track for me was great fun nothing difficult but still a little hard to get fast as there was a good bit of pedaling and some parts where you just had to trust your tyres.Tom and I were hard and left on the highrollers but everyone else were on the spikes come Sunday! Practice went well with everyone trudgeing up that hill at least 7 times only 1 word can describe the physical state after practice on Saturday - "Bollixed." Myself, Tom, Dan , Hitler and The Galway Freerider headed for Kilmore near Rosslare to make use of the inlaws holiday home, got there with enough daylight to get the bikes washed and tyres changed. A quick shower, and down to the local for dinner. After 1 of the worst pints of Heino that every came out of a beer tap and a steak that could be used for playing table tennis we retired home. Everyone jaded we went to bed around 9.30 and I went to sleep listening to the comforting chorus of Tom and Fran snoring lol.
What can I say about Smelly Kelly, riding unreal he lost out by 0.03 sec Its going to be some year in Junior. Obviously he was very dissapointed loosing by such a small margin but fuck me this could be his year he looked amazing on track! Stoner Doner Donought Kebab made his first start under the Flow banner but had a turbulent weekend with punctures, mechanicals and spills. Allthough looking very fast in practice things didn't go to plan in the race runs. He will be making up for it in cloon. Hitler was happy with his 1st run on 1.55 and knew that he could improve but the sun became an obstacle on the course and the end of the first section out onto the fireroad it laughed at hitler and threw him into a tree - game over.
Our newest member young Moran returning from injury was unsure of how hard to push or even race at all on Saturday morning. After putting the demons to bed the collarbone felt good and confidence was returning. 2 solid runns on Sunday means he ended up with a 2.04 not bad with a half knitted collarbone. Now that he's back I'm sure when fittness returns he can put pressure on Damo in Masters! In the retards category myself and Fran were eager to do well. Fran tore down the hill and put in a great time which left him in 5th 3 seconds off the lead and knew what he had to do. Balls out he was having a winning run but binned it big time after coming down the last north shore ramp. After a shit 1st run with crashes I improved on the second run after a very scary moment landing with only 1 foot on the pedals from the north shore jump up top losing all momentum and squashing the liathroidi and spraining my ankle (size of a football last night) but absolutely STOKED MAN coming 6th.
Tomeen made his long awaited comeback and felt good enough. Leading after the 1st run and taking the top spot. Binning it on sat eve due to the sun he didn't push for the second run as that same sun was making its presence felt. Coming down safe and sound he was just edged out and finished second. It was a great comeback and we all know come the NPS he'll be back firing on all cylinders! Peter made the trip down on Sunday but having very little or no practice it was more of a case of 'happy to be taking part.' I'm sure he'll be making sure he's there for Satuday practice in Cloon. Last but not least the U16 went to Junior, an impressive time of 1.48 - he wasn't that happy with the time. Tired from pedaling after the 1st run he 'had a bad run' for the second and went 3 secs quicker!! It would have put him 3rd in Junior, amazing - it may be a case of having to race in junior this year in order to improve and push himself. Turtle Head was a clear second by 2.5 secs and the new bike defo seems to be suiting him. The track wouldn't necessarily have been to his liking as it involved turning the pedals so there will defo be bigger and better thing to come from our Blondie!
